The castle has been owned by the same family for more than 450 years and was constructed between 1066 and 1071 on William the Conqueror’s instructions. Various events are held throughout the year to bring the castle’s history to life.

Not far away, the 7th Earl of Cardigan, who is renowned for leading the Charge of the Light Brigade, lived in the beautiful Tudor and Georgian estate known as Deene Park in Northamptonshire.
