Last week our Director Tom Wilson spoke to The Telegraph about the recent upward trend in the housing market and what it holds for the future. We quote the article here:
“At the peak of the Covid boom, Tom Wilson, at Stamford agent King West, was doing “27 viewings in 24 hours” on some deals. One East Midlands property ticking all the pandemic boxes – spacious, garden views and good connections – drew viewers from all over the country and sold for well over its £1m asking price.
London has been left behind by the move out of the cities and is showing the lowest year-on-year growth of all at 5.2pc. Compare that with the 11pc rise seen in the East Midlands, one of three regions where the Office for National Statistics found double-digit annual price growth in May. A frenetic market has “paused for breath”, but Wilson doesn’t foresee a crash, noting “it is still relatively easy to get 10 year money at decent rates”. Plunging loan costs are aimed at borrowers with 40pc deposits – most likely existing owners – with Nationwide even offering a five-year fixed rate deal at a record low 0.99pc, according to Moneyfacts.”
